Running through the Osnabrücker Land from east to west is the nature park Nördlicher Teutoburger Wald - Wiehengebirge, highest point is the Dörenberg with 331 m (1086 ft) above sea level. To the north, this ridge is adjoined by the low plains of the Norddeutsche Tiefebene, to the south by the equally flat Münsterland. The region is decidedly rural, dominated by extensive woodlands and farmland with picturesque villages, many in traditional timber frame architecture.

This setting, together with a recently signposted 1500 mile network of cycle routes, makes the Osnabrücker Land a worthwhile cycle touring destination. The nearby Münsterland provides another 3000 miles of signposted routes. Hikers and watersports enthusiasts are catered for as well. For those interested in history, the Osnabrücker Land provides some surprises. You'll see dinosaur remains, bronze age megalithic tombs, the Romans left their traces, and last but not least did the Thirty Years' War find its end in the Peace of Westphalia of Münster and Osnabrück in 1648. There's plenty to see as well for everyone with an interest in history of civilisation with numerous buildings ranging from the romanesque to renaissance period.

The rally will be based at the youth camp site "Hollager Mühle", named after the old windmill on the campground. With 6.7 acres, the site offers sufficient space for tents, caravans and motor homes, as well as a bathing pond, playground and football pitch. Further accommodation is provided in 8 little wooden huts with four beds and translucent roof, ideal for families. Two small shelters as well as a large one, seating more than 100 and each incorporating a kitchen with stoves, fridges and freezers complement the facilities. Washing machine and tumble dryer are provided in the main building. A variety of shops are about a mile from the camp site.
