Spring Tandem Meeting
Lüneburg, Germany

Deutsche Flag DE Version

This year our annual tandem meeting is jointly organized by the ADFC regional groups Lüneburg and Osnabrück. The meeting will take place around the Ascension Day (4 to 8 May 2005) in Lüneburg. Due to the success of last year, there will again be offered one family and one longer and faster ride every day.

Accommodation/Meals

Accommodation has been reserved in the recently renovated youth hostel Lüneburg. JH Lüneburg Please do not contact them directly.

The youth hostel is located at the southern outskirts of the ancient Hanseatic town Lüneburg, closely to the university at the town forest. The city centre can be reached by foot in half an hour, by bus or tandem in 10 minutes.

This year 30 beds in twin-bedded and multi-bedded rooms have been reserved for us.

In the morning, we will get a "normal" (continental style) breakfast, cereals and we can pack our lunch. In the evening, we will have a warm meal. Bed-linen will be provided. It is however not allowed to use one's own or youth hostel sleeping bags, but please bring your own towels.

Arrival/Departure

Since Lüneburg has a railway station, the easiest way to get there is by train. Coming from Osnabrück, you can avoid changing trains when getting off in Tostedt or Buchholz and riding the last 50 to 60 km with the tandem.

Arrival day is Wednesday, 4 May 2005, the evening meal will be served at 7 p. m. Departure will be on Sunday, 8 May 2005, after breakfast.

Day rides

The three daily trips will lead us through the Lüneburg Heath and beyond it, mainly on small by-roads. Every day you can choose between a shorter family and a longer ride.

Family rides

We will ensure that the family trips will be suitable for the whole family and especially for children, i. e.:

Longer rides

There will be three longer rides of approx. 90 km. We usually stop at bakeries on the way to buy some extra food for the day. As soon as we discover something that might be of interest, we will stop and have a look around, i. e. these tours are not considered to be sport events.
