Spring Tandem Meeting 2007 Soest

Our 2007 tandem meeting will take place in Soest (Touristinformation Soest), giving us the opportunity to cycle through the lovely Lipper Land, but we will also get quickly to the hills of the near Sauerland. Of course we won't miss out on the Möhne reservoir.
As during the past years, we'll again try to offer a family ride as well as medium and long rides each day.

Accommodation / Catering

We will be based at the youth hostel Soest. Please do not contact them directly!

The youth hostel is located close to the city and the historic town centre of Soest. It had been renovated and modernised in 2002.

The house offers 54 beds in 2-, 3- and 4-bed rooms. The latter ones can also be used as 5- or 6-bed rooms by big families.

Full board with breakfast buffet, packed lunch and dinner will be provided. The food will be specifically prepared to meet cyclists' needs, rich in carbohydrate and vitamins.

Getting there

As Soest has a train station, getting there should not cause any major problem. The next bigger station with connections to the long-distance traffic is Hamm station (about 15 miles).

Arrival will be on Wednesday 16^th May, with dinner served from 7 p.m. Departure is on Sunday 20^th May, after breakfast.

Rides

Our ride leaders will take us through the Lipper Land and the near Sauerland, mainly on minor roads. There will be a short family ride, a medium and a long ride each day.

The rides will be on Thu 17^th / Fri 18^th / Sat 19^th May '07.

Family rides

Care will be taken to ensure suitability for families and children:

• short distances, about 30 miles
• no major hills
• sufficient playground stops

Medium rides

Distance and speed of these rides will be somewhere between the family and long rides. They are therefore suitable for the faster families, and adult teams taking it a bit easier.

Long rides

There will be three rides covering a distance of about 60 miles, averaging 12 - 14 mls/hr. Additional food will be bought from bakeries along the way, we'll also stop at interesting points en route. After all, we'll be on holiday, not on the run.

Cost

Cost for 4 nights in 4-bed, 3-bed or family room including breakfast, packed lunch and dinner:

• Adults: 132 EUR
• Members of Tandem Club or clubs affiliated with the ECF^*: 122 EUR
• Children 6 - 18 years old: 95 EUR
• Children 3 - 5 years old: 65 EUR
• Children under 3 years old: free

Surcharge for 4 nights in 2-bed room: 12 EUR/person


Cost includes bed linen, towels are not included.

Within a week of your booking, you will receive a confirmation giving you the actual cost and the payment details. The booking will become valid after payment has been received. Final date for your booking is 28^th February 2007.

Guests are welcome to join the rides, there will be no cost for Tandem Club or CTC members.
It will also be possible for guests to join us for dinner, in this case let us know before 10^th May 2007.
