Spring Tandem Meeting 2009 Northeim
20th May - 24th May 2009

Deutsche Flag GE Version / Nederlandse Flag NL Versie

Our 2009 tandem meeting will take place in Northeim giving us the opportunity to test our up- and downhill riding skills in the mountain ranges Solling or Harz, but of course there will also be less hilly alternatives in the Leine valley. We will have the chance to enjoy castles and ruins, old towns and a little bit of "Weser Renaissance". As during the past years, we will again try to offer a family ride as well as medium and long rides each day.

Accommodation

JH Northeim We will be based at the youth hostel in Northeim. Please do not contact them directly!

The youth hostel is located in a quiet park area on the edge of a pedestrian zone. The cultural sites of the town are within walking distance.

The house offers 48 beds in eight 2-, four 3- and five 4-bed rooms.

Catering

You can gather the meals that will be served from the following list. As usual, we will order meals that will be specifically prepared to meet cyclists' needs. Vegetarian alternatives shall also be available.

Getting there

Northeim is situated at the intercity rail track from Hamburg to Konstanz so that there are nonstop IC trains, e. g. from Hamburg, Hanover, Frankfurt, Darmstadt, Konstanz, incl. further stops, to Northeim. For planning your journey, please check the website of Deutsche Bahn.

Arrival will be on Wednesday, 20th May, with dinner served from 7 p.m. Departure is on Sunday, 24th May, after breakfast.

Rides

Our three day rides each will take us through the surrounding area, using mainly minor roads or the regional cycling network. There will be a short family ride, a medium and a long ride each day. For all rides GPS files and PDF route maps will be made available for printing in good time. Some of the routes will be led rides.

The rides will be on Thu 21st / Fri 22nd / Sat 23rd May 2009.

Family rides

Care will be taken to ensure suitability for families and children:

Medium rides

Distance and speed of these rides will be somewhere between the family and long rides. They are therefore suitable for the faster families, and adult teams taking it a bit easier.

Long rides

There will be three rides covering a distance of about 60 miles, averaging 12 - 14 mls/hr. Additional food will be bought from bakeries along the way, we will also stop at interesting points en route. After all, we will be on holiday, not on the run.
